Changism
A philosophy of change and organization
A clock measures. A body heals. A person learns. Things persist while their materials, relationships, and circumstances change. What allows them to hold together, and what do our measurements tell us about that changing world?
Changism proposes that change comes first. Concrete reality is fundamentally active, and things are stabilized patterns within that activity, held together by their organization. Time is not a container in which this happens. It is the derivative ledger of ordered change: the comparisons through which clocks, calendars and records count, measure and coordinate what the world is doing. From this starting point, Changism explores causation, knowledge, consciousness, and the history of the universe.
Find a question that interests you
You can begin with an ordinary experience and follow it into a larger philosophical question. The seven areas below offer connected routes through Changism.
Time and Change
What do clocks measure, and how do change, its order, and our measurements differ?
Things and Identity
What makes something one thing, and how can it persist while its components change?
Causation and Dependence
How does one thing produce a difference, and what distinguishes causation from other kinds of explanation?
Truth, Records, and Knowledge
What happened, what was recorded, and what can we justifiably believe?
Physics and Cosmology
How does Changism engage with relativity, quantum interpretation, and testable cosmological proposals?
Mind and Lived Experience
How do memory, experienced duration, and a sense of self belong to a changing person?
Philosophical Conversations
What can Changism learn from other traditions, and where do their disagreements remain open?
Read the books
The three volumes offer different routes into the work. Begin with Changism for the broad introduction. Follow Relational Tempo Cosmology into physical proposals and their tests, or Searching for Time into the comparison of competing accounts of time.

Examine the arguments
A philosophical proposal earns its place through the questions it helps answer and the objections it can address. Research introduces Changism’s arguments, their assumptions, and the problems still being investigated. Its scientific extensions carry further responsibilities: explicit models, evidence, and tests.

An essay can follow a question through an everyday encounter. A poem or monologue can give voice to the uncertainty, continuity, and possibility within a life. Essays & Poetry offers a more reflective route through these themes.
